Interesting fact(s): The cardinal is the state bird of seven states: Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. No other bird holds this distinction.
Males with birghter red color appear to feed at higher rates and have greater reproductive success.

Comments: Cardinals appear to be very proud birds. We often see them perched on the highest branches of their immediate area singing very loudly.
